I think that dofollow is most important, but you also need to have nofollow links so that the search engines sees that you are most natural. So in order to have high PR you have to be as natural as possible.

It has been my experience with SEO experts to tell you quite a lot but not enough to make you a success unless you buy a book on the subject. However you look at it back links take time. Have you got the time, is your time worth a lot of money? Is you money better invested in doing what you do best and leaving the SEO to an expert? I think any sane person can make a good decision

Remember, when using Googles external keyword tool, use ‘exact’ match. That will give you a more accurate search volume figure.

I also recommend getting a few nofollow links to. This makes it look more natural to the search engines ALTHOUGH your main focus should be on ‘dofollow’ links.

Jared is on the money. If the blog owner is good enough to leave a followed link, the least you can do it to contribute. This is true for many link building strategies. I would also add there is a tool called Quirk Search Status that highlights nofollow links among many other things.

There are software apps that will find nofollow blogs too.

I installed the Firefox ad-on that highlights no-follow links. All of the links on this page light up as having the nofollow attribute, even the anchor text in the comments above. Did I install it incorrectly?

The only thing you forgot to mention is that when you comment on blogs that are DoFollow, make sure you actually read the post and put some effort into your comment. If you don’t, it may look like spam and the owner of the blog will just deny your comment. Also, if you spam too many blogs that are using the Akismet anti-spam plugin, you are at risk for being put on the Akismet blacklist.
